I never played the game, so before i find it used somewhere I was wondering if Knights of the OldRepublic was a good game or not.KoTOR
its good and one of the best pc games in my opinion, definitely worth playing.i had so much fun with it and after i beat it once as a Sith, i started from scratch and beat it again to see the different ending as a Jedi.also, even KotOR2 was not good as KotOR1 its still great game.KoTOR
All I can say: Buy it. Don't hesitate.
BUUUUY IT!!! NOWWWWWW it's like 20$ for the first one anyways =p they're both good but i liked kotor 1 more
Yup, great game, and one of the best, if not the best Star Wars movie ever. A bit short, and a little on the easy side, but it's a great experience while it lasts.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Best PC game ever ( made by BioWare ) ( superb nonlinear story with the greatest PC story twist ever, great locations, very interesting characters )
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords - Good RPG ( made by Obsidian ) ( boring unfinished linear story with a terrible ending, very easy, boring locations, uninteresting characters, a million bugs, it's more like an expansion pack because almost everything was copied from KOTOR 1 and only a few things were added )
Even if LucasArts didn't rush Obsidian to cut so much content I doubt it would have been better than KOTOR 1 ( even with team gizka's restoration project www.team-gizka.org it won't be better ). Maybe they rushed KOTOR 2, but they also messed up Neverwinter Nights 2 ( linear boring story with a million bugs ). Obsidian will never be as good as Black Isle. I think that Bioware is the greatest PC game developer ever and I hope they make KOTOR 3 ( but I doubt it ), but I just hope they make Mass Effect for PC too ( which I think will be the greatest RPG ever ) and don't wait 2 years after it's out for XBOX360 to make it for PC ( like they did with Jade Empire which is also a superb RPG ).
Excellent game by all means, very well done. If you enjoy it, Kotor II is more of the same, which is a good thing.
Buy both if you can. KotorI is a great experience, and Kotor II is pretty much more of the same, which is a good thing. Some of the Best Games of All Time in my book.
awesome game, but its not optimized very well so it may get a little glitchy
Star wars: kotor is the BEST Star wars game and xbox game ever. It's 35-40 hours of awesome awesome fun. I've replayed it 4 or 5 times over. If you like star wars or RPG's you'll love it.
Star wars: kotor 2...is not the best. :(
It was made by another developer and released several months too early making several things missing including the WHOLE ending(seriously it just ends so badly it's not funny). Shocking framerate that was never smooth. Crap characters(I ****ing hate g0-t0), average stoty. lame Sith, a couple of the levels are utterly pointless and unfinished. It was by the same developer who screwed NWN2 as well. Get it if you want more kotor but don't expect the greatness of the first.
The first game I'd give a perfect 10.0.
The second I'd give a 6.9.
Nah, don't buy KOTOR II. In fact, having played both KOTOR II and NWN2, I suggest you don't buy anything from Obsidian Entertainment until they starting cleaning up their act. I once thought Bioware had a bit of a bug problem - Obsidian completely shattered that belief. My favourite bug was the Talos Academy bug - man, I went through hours of hair pulling and spitting obscenities before I finally figured out all I had to do was change one simple dialogue choice.
Breaking News! Gamespot has a huge archive of game reviews, including one for KotOR.
I like the second one better. The characters are better and the game feels more evolved, even though it wasn't finished

KOTOR's review on GS is just one gamer's opinion. A gamer who play and review games for a living, yes, but a gamer nonetheless.
I don't believe the opinions of average gamers should be any less significant than that of professional reviewers.
thanks for all the ideas and I will try to pick up the game if I can

I'm saying that there's plenty of information on the game in the GS review for you to get an idea on whether you'll like the game or not. Also, with a game as well known as KotOR, I find it hard to believe that someone wouldn't already have some idea of whether it is good or not. In short, do some freakin' research, ya lazy goober.
Definitely a game worth buying, very interesting and exiting. I loved it, and KOTOR 2. :D
Buy KotOR as soon as you can. It's totally woth it!As far as Obsidian goes, I don't think they really care if they're as good or better than Black Isle, considering many of them used to work there. I think that all they want to do is make fun games. Making an RPG is rough to do, and sometimes the end result doesn't wind up pleasing all of the fans. Personally, I've found NWN2 to be a very fun game that looks spectacular. In other words, stop comparing Obsidian to Black Isle. I doubt Obs cares to try to live up to some crazy, unreasonable expectation of greatness that Black Isle has gained throughout years of fandom. Is Obsidian the best RPG developer ever? No. But there's no need to compare them to Black Isle. Black Isle is defunct and no longer makes titles, and OE seems to more interested in making games than in trying to live up to people's expectations that they be a reincarnate of a former, highly acclaimed RPG developer. Compare OE's games on their own merit, not against the expectations of an idealised, championed, and heralded former softhouse.
awesome game, but its not optimized very well so it may get a little glitchy
LucasArts is notrorious for being penny-pinching tightwads and not wanting to patch their games. It took a whilst for the KotOR patches to come out, but they do help. As far as I can tell, the only thing the patches really fixed was the severe slowdown/stutter problem on Taris.
