... I recieved a nice gaming laptop around a month ago, the specs are as follows... Intel C2D T7200 @ 2.0GHZ, 2GB 667MHZ RAM, 7900 GS @ 256 MB. This was supposed to replace my old Desktop computer Which was running a AMD athlon 3000+, 1GB Ram @ 400MHZ, and a NVIDIA 6800The problem is that on my new laptop, basically All of my games lag really bad... Games such as battlefield 2 become pretty much unplayable online, but Its not my internet connection since I have a low ping... It also lags a lot in SP... I figure that this laptop would run better than my desktop, but it doesnt...Well, I dont want this to turn into a vista VS XP war, but I am running vista ultimate on the laptop, and I was running XP home on the desktop... I am not very sure, but I cant see that being the problem for such bad framerates. And I have already installed the latest drivers for my graphics card, and for Vista so I dont think that is the problem...Any help with figuring out the problem will be appreciated ARG @ framerate
Make sure you have the latest driver for your GFX cardARG @ framerate

I hate to say it, but until Microsoft decides it's worth it to put out a service pack for what is essentially Windows ME2... Your ''upgrade'' should have been all that new hardware on that laptop, with Windows XP.I know you didn't want a Vista flame war, I am not doing that, I am stating that Vista is not a gamer's OS. It is very pretty and has great bells and whistles, but too many processes to make Vista all pretty has left little or no power for the more intense games like Battlefield 2, and F.E.A.R.Here's the thing, Microsoft knows that Vista was ''not ready for prime time,'' this is why they are unveiling a new OS in 2008 codenamed ''Vienna.'' This newer OS is set to have all that Vista was supposed to have, plus the long awaited newer filesystem, that will replace NTFS.As Windows ME came before XP, Windows ME2 (Vista) will come before the REAL upgrade.
Interesting thought... Noted and THX, but until then, without giving the suggestion that I revert to XP, is there any way for me to improve performance, or is the only thing I can do either wait for vienna, or close up all of the background processes?or is even closing those impossible or dangerous>?
