Definately get Deus Ex. 9.95 off steam. It's a little complicated at first but don't be scared. Pick a few skills and master them. Then be prepared for the journey of your life. FPS games that is worth to buy aside from Half-Life 2?

If you don't get FEAR, get FEAR Combat for free. Its the multiplayer bit of the game for free :D.

I would say avoid 2...Red Faction(Someone else said it before) Probably has one of the best Single Player experiences out there. I would say it is on Par with Half Life and such.
