I'm getting a new computer tomorrow and I'm looking for a good FPS that can both test my video card AND have playing value. I always had R6 Vegas in mind but I just learned that it's a simplified console version compared to the classic R6 titles, and it's poorly ported and with no support or updates. So what else is good for such a purpose? As you can see I'm looking for a realistic shooter with depth and complexity instead of running amock and shooting like mad.Looking for a good FPS
STALKER?Looking for a good FPS
Agreed.
GRAW2 is realistic and you can test your videocard.
Why does the graphics from the screenshots look so dull?
Same thing with that, why do these games look so dull compared to Vegas?
because you have no artistic direction outside that of Tom Clancy??If you want depth and complexity, and a hint of realism, STALKER is your best bet out right now that will test your computer. I have Vegas on my 360, and it doesn't have that much depth to it. And why you think it looks better than STALKER or even GRAW is beyond me. The environment of STALKER is far more immersive than that of Vegas.
Ghost Recon is also by Tom Clancy! If you look at Stalker and GRAW2 they aren't as vibrant or nice as Vegas.

I have vegas on my 360 and it doesnt look anywhere near as good as even GRAW let alone stalker. If i want to see vegas I go to the real thing. STALKER has far more going for it than vegas does.
Some people just like colorful scenes, more colors = better graphics. Not me, of course.

Try FEAR, you can download the online component for free and it's one of the best looking FPS's out there so it's sure to be a good test for your video card.

And is it tactical like GRAW or is it like Unreal Tournament?
You could try Prey, that came out not too long ago. I'm not completely sure it is worth it though, I haven't played it yet.

I think I'll just get GRAW2, because the PC version is actually different than the 360, it's actually better not just a faulty port like Vegas. But one thing though, is Ghost Recon all about sneaking like splinter cell or thief? Because the name sounds like it. I want something like Rainbow Six or Battlefield where you can actually fight, rather than games that are all about sneaking and sniping people from far away.
FEAR is not as tactical as GRAW or R6, nor does it have the unrealisitic nature that Unreal Tournament has (though UT2k4 is really fun). You still have to take cover and such, but sometimes you can go rambo and the bullet time really helps. Plus, the graphics are AMAZING and the Ai, gameplay, and weapons are some of the best ive seen. Though this isn't exactly a FPS, you could try Oblivion. You may be able to max that out, but you can keep adding mods to make the game look better until your computer starts putting out on you. And I don't really recommend R6 (as fun as it is) to test the graphics on your PC. I mean, my PC dominates Oblivion (max settings) and FEAR (max settings), yet I can barely get a decent framerate with Rainbow 6 Vegas on my computer due to such poor optimization.
Get Stalker and download the Flow 32 mod it makes the game look freaking amazing! Stalker is the best FPS i have played in a long time
GRAW 2
I have read reviews about GRAW 2 and I don't want it anymore. Appears that it's mostly about covert operations than actual fighting like in Rainbow six. And you can only have 4 team mates with you.

Its just different styles, but Stalkers lighting is better than Vegas
