I know you can use the 360 controller for the computer, but is it compatible with every game? Like if I wanted to play Counter Strike, would it work or do I need to use the keyboard?I'm not really a big fan of the keyboard and mouse and its the only thing holding me back. I dont know anyone who plays PC games so figured I'd ask someone on here.Thinkin bout playing PC games but..
hey i started playing pc games like 2 years ago and i started with counter strike,to be honest you would only need a controller to play racing and fighting games, anything else i think its pretty good with keyboard and mouse.at first i was evry bad using the keyboard for cs but now i know its thebest thing. a controller for cs is not good and you will get killed easily. Also you can change the keyboard configuration in everygame, i dont like the wasdto play FPS so i use the arrow keys.and once you start playing FPS in pc, CS, half life, FEAR, far cry, battlefirld 2, etcyou will not want to go back.Thinkin bout playing PC games but..
yes you can play FPS's with the 360 controler....however...you would not want to.....you would be at a serious disadvantage online.-Keep in mind...nearly all console FPS's use aimassist, because a controler lacks the precision a mouse does....PC shooters therfor do not use aimassist.
I really do apolgize if I come out sounding harsh...and remember, I'm not trying to sound like an a' hole...but if you are being ''held back'' because of the keyboard and mouse, then I believe you shouldn't even touch a PC game, AT ALL.
well, good luck with the tiny hitboxes.
just get used to the mouse and keyboard. im alright with the 360 controller still, so its not going to kill you or anything :D
Also you can change the keyboard configuration in everygame, i dont like the wasdto play FPS so i use the arrow keys.
Out of interest, how do you manage to use the arrow keys? I know a fair few people do, I myself use the numpad which I know is unusual (come on guys, 7 and 9 make great leaning keys and you have a bunch of keys layed perfectly around it!). Anyway if you use arrow keys, and other hand is on mouse, what do you use to like jump, duck, prone, lean, reload, run/walk, useetc? And those are just standard keys in most games, then you have wierd things like slo-mo in fear or holding breath in farcry..Far as I can tell you'd have to completely move your hand elsewhere to hit any of your other actions :?
I can understand that you might feel that a keyboard and mouse doesn't feel natural if you are used to playing with a controller because that is all you have used to game before. I can't speak from experience since I was the other way around but I can still understand where this feeling could be coming from. My advice is to give the keyboard and mouse some time. You will become used to a keyboard and mouse style and should come to enjoy it. You are at a disadvantage in FPS style games with a controller. You will come to think that the controller is now the thing to be holding you back. However, you might as well get one for racing games and action games if you enjoy those also. In that case a controller is superiour over a keyboard ad mouse.

what Juggernaut said, you'll adapt and then you'll think different.
I'm pretty hardcore on PC games and am devote to keyboard/mouse and nearly forgot all about my consoles. Then I got Gears of War and I understand what you mean by ''it feeling wierd'' but after awhile I obviously got the hang of it.

I can pinpoint the exact game and relative date for when I first used the WASD+mouse configuration and it took my a few days to get used to it. It was the game Unreal, and boy did it feel weird. Prior to that I was just used to using arrow keys and the spacebar to shoot. But trust me, keyboard and mouse is infinately better than a controller for just about every game but driving games (and even then the keyboard has never held me back). I think if you ask anyone who has made the transition and they would agree with us on this issue. All I can do is offer words of enouragement, and suggest you just stick with it. Might I suggest playing some singleplayer shooters before you go online and play CS? CS is known for its frustration factor to even FPS veterans, and if you couple that with your unfamiliarity with the keyboard and mouse then you might totally detest PC gaming and that would be a real shame. You have CS, do you have Halflife 2? Quake 4, Doom 3, FEAR? Those are all good games to get used to the KB+M setup.Good luck!I also just want to add that the KB+M setup offers more immersion imo. With a controller, everything is incremental: you have to time everything, you push the stick too far then you got to pull it back to put it on target. Then the autoaim kicks in and ruins that nice shot you had setup. With KB+M, theyre almost an extension of your hands. After a while, you dont even notice it; its as if you are just there and the game is in front of you, and whatever you think, your character acts. Ever hear stories about sharpshooters or policemen saying their guns are almost like an extension of their body? Its kinda like that.
